The objective of the Personal Support Worker Program is to train students and help them acquire the skills needed to care for individuals living in long-term care facilities and the community.
Specific topics covered in this program will be: Individuality, Role of the PSW, Interpersonal Skills, Safety, Assisting a person with mobility, Household Management, Meal Preparation, Care Planning, Assisting the Family, and Mental Health Issues. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Applicants are required to have: an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Equivalent OR Mature students status - 18 years of age or older and pass a pre-entry evaluation. |
Additional Admission Requirements: | Applicants are required to have: a passing score on the NACC literacy evaluation; a current immunization record, including Hepatitis B; and a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
